Woonsocket, RI (Providence)-On August 5, 2008 around 1800hrs the Woonsocket, RI Fire Department responded to 356 Avenue A for a reported structure fire. Engines 1, 6, 3, Ladder 2, Rescue 2 and the Chief arrived to find heavy smoke showing from this 1sty wdfm barber shop. Reports of a basement fire proved true as companies made their way down through the bulkhead door on side 3. The fire had extended up a few bays on side 3 creating heavy smoke in the attic area. Truckies opened the roof in the rear to wet down the upwards spread of the fire. The fire damage was contained to the basement and side 3 walls along with smoke, water, and overhaul damage to the rest of the building. This building is owned by my barber...hurry up and rebuild Joe...the hair that still grows will have to cut soon!!!!
