Woonsocket, RI - Firefighters responded to the area of Valley and Cross Streets for smoke from a dwelling around 0100hrs on February 25, 2009. Engine 3 arrived to find smoke showing from a 2.5sty wdfm vacant dwelling. As Engine 3's crew stretched in, Ladder 1 set up their stick to the roof through a series of wires and tree branches. Interior companies found fire on the first floor extending upwards through the walls of this house under renovation. The fire traveled upwards into the attic space and broke out of the gable end trim boards. Firefighters brought a second hand line to the front porch roof to knock the fire down as the truckies opened up. The bulk of the fire was knocked down in about 20 minutes. As the firefighters were mopping up, Fire alarm keyed the airwaves reporting another possible building fire in the area of Park Ave and Crawford Streets. Police reported on scene with a large 3 story occupied dwelling with fire on the second floor porch extending to the roof line.
