North Smithfield, RI (Providence County) - Fire Alarm received 2 calls for smoke coming from the building at 800 Central Street around 1515hrs on January 26, 2009. Off duty NSFD Fire Lieutenant Dave Mowry arrived first due reporting "smoke showing" from a 200x500 2sty metal clad warehouse and office structure. Light to moderate smoke was pushing with evident fire damage on the upper corner the side 2-1 corner. Engine 1 arrived and stretched a 1.75 attack line through a loading dock door up to the second floor office. Millville, MA Engine 2 arrived and established a water supply from their 2500 gallon tanker to NSFD Engine 1. North Smithfield Ladder 2 set up on the 1-2 corner and proceeded with roof ventilation operations. Woonsocket Engine 6 stretched in the back up line to the office area to assist first due firefighters. The fire quickly knocked down in the partitions on the side 2 wall without further extensions. The building was vacant to active business at the time of the fire. The building owner was on scene prior to arrival of the fire department reporting leaking pipes that were once frozen in the walls.
