Pawtucket, RI - Engine 5 arrived first due finding heavy smoke showing from this 3sty wdfm flat top vacant dwelling at 73 Baldwin Street on Friday the 13th around 2015hrs. Companies found heavy fire conditions in the basement rapidly extending upwards through the front stairwell. The heavy smoke and fire blew out of the second floor windows on side 4 and 1 once companies beagn to vent. The OIC struck second and third alarms due to the heavy fire that was pushing from the dwelling. All companies were ordered out of the building for roll call and for a quick defensive operation. Engine 5's deck gun and Tower Ladder 2's waterway knocked the bulk of the fire down and companies were allowed to return inside to mop up. Pockets of hidden fire were soon exposed and wet down. The fire was placed under control around 2130hrs.
