Lincoln, RI – Stations 4, 5, 3, 7, and Rescue 4 responded to 14 Sheffield Drive for a possible dwelling fire. Squad 4 arrived to find smoke and fire showing from an occupied 1 story wood frame ranch structure. The fire was just starting to pop through the side 1-2 corner bedroom window as hand lines were getting placed into operation. Station 4 apparatus were on scene in a few minutes due to their station was just down the road. Squad 4 and Rescue 4 attacked the fire and performed primary searches as other companies were still responding in. Ladder 51 set up on side 1 and proceeded to vent the roof on side1 over the seat of the fire. Engine 31 and Engine 76 established water supply and back up hand lines. Squad 21 and Rescue 2 filled out the working fire assignment for F.A.S.T. and E.M.S. rehabilitation. The bulk of the heavy fire was knocked down in 10 minutes of the first due’s arrival. Salvage and overhaul followed proving that there was negative extension elsewhere in the dwelling. The occupants were not home at the time of the fire. The RI Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to help determine cause and origin.
