North Smithfield, RI firefighters were alerted of a possible dwelling fire at 219 Buxton Street around 1415hrs on January 14, 2010. First due companies reported heavy smoke showing from a 1sty wood frame dwelling with fire showing from the 1-4 corner. Engine 1 stretched in a 1.75" attack line through the side 1 entry way to begin the fire attack. Car 2 requested tankers to the scene due to the lack of hydrants in the area. Ladder 2 arrived with orders to stretch a back up line to help attack the fire. Woonsocket Engine 1, who was on the working fire response, stretched in to the side 4 entry way to attack the heavy fire in the kitchen area. Burrillville, Smithfield, Uxbridge, MA, and Millville, MA sent compnaies to fill out the second alarm. The bulk of the heavy fire was knocked down in 30 minutes with heavy overhauling following. The RI Fire Marshal's Office was was on scene to help the North Smithfield Fire Marshal with cause and origin. The family dog did perish in the fire, rest in peace Roxi. This fire happened directly across the street from my house. I was at working my first 10hr day tour when this fire was stilled out. The canteen truck and Deputy's buggy are in my driveway.
