Woonsocket, RI – Engines 3, 2, 1, Ladder 2, Rescue 2, and Chief 1 responded to the area of 269 Bernon Street for a possible structure fire. Engine 3 arrived with smoke showing from the rear of a large 2.5sty wood frame dwelling. The firefighters stretched in an attack line to the rear of the dwelling to investigate the cause of the smoke. Engine 3’s officer reported a 2 bay garage on fire in the rear of the structure and wanted his line charged. Chief 1 confirmed that he had a working fire and to fill out the rest of the running card bringing Squad 4, Rescue 1, and Ladder 1 to the scene. A second attack line was stretched in and also a LDH feeder line was established to supply Engine 3. The fire was knocked down in less than 10 minutes using 2 hand lines. There was no extension to the dwelling that was less than 5 feet away. Companies returned into service shortly after overhaul leaving the scene for the investigators to determine the cause and origin.
