Uxbridge, MA- A smoke detector alerted this family to get to safety as they were waking up around 0830hrs on August 1, 2009. The homeowner called 911 and reported a possible vehicle fire in the garage of their 2 story wood framed colonial style dwelling at 33 Julian Drive. Engine 1 arrived first and reported “nothing showing” from the dwelling. The crew did stretch a dry line as they investigated the dwelling. They encountered light smoke in the dwelling with an odor of something burning. Companies found the interior of a Honda Pilot involved in fire inside the garage. The crew asked for the line to be charged and quickly knocked the fire down. Engine 2 arrived and stretched a backup line to the dwelling. Tanker 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Engine 3 also responded to the scene when command requested a working fire response. Firefighters placed the vehicle in neutral and pushed it outside after the fire was knocked down. Ladder 1 set up their vent fan to clear the dwelling of smoke. There was no fire extension to the dwelling.
